This week's Wednesday (Thursday) Classic Track is UpCDownCLeftCRightCABC+Start's Stand Shadowless Like Silence, the opening track from the debut album of the world's most underrated post-rockers. And The Battle Is Won is just shy of an hour's worth of instrumental perfection so picking the track to run with here once I'd decided to feature them was tough. I decided to go with the opener in the hope of drawing a wider audience to the work as a whole. Now just going by the monkier UpCDownC, and having lost the second drummer who gave them their early signature sound, their later releases never quite lived up to this, but still put 99% of the Mogwai aping post-rock scene to shame.
And The Battle Is Won is available for the bargain price of a fiver at the band's Bandcamp page here.
Also, I'm not being biased towards the band here because they're from my home area of Medway, believe me, I've seen members of this band play in other projects I'd be happy to forget ever existed.
